Tennis History

This section of the website is designed to entertain you with facts about the history of tennis.

To begin with here are the histories of some of the major tennis championships. Each year on the tour there are four major championships in addition to the regular ATP tour events.

The four major tennis championships are called the grand slam events or tourneys and , if a player wins all four events in the same calendar year, that player is said to have won the grand slam.

The four championships that define tennis greatness are the US Open, the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon. Each is held in a different country, and each has it's own unique history.

The other major competitive event in the tennis year is the competition betwen nations which is called the Davis Cup.
